Pre-IB

The Pre-IB programme at Gjøvik videregående is a class in General studies but is organised to prepare the students for the IB Diploma Programme. The pre-IB is not mandatory but recommended for students with background from the Norwegian school system.

Vg1 studiespes is mandatory to be admitted to IB, see the admission criteria in our Admission policy.  Experience shows that students from pre-IB manage to get up to speed quite quickly, but that the switch to English immersion is an initial challenge.

Students completing the pre-IB programme at Gjøvik vgs do not only have the advantage of exposure to subject specific terminology in English, but also develop IB skills and focus on the attributes of the IB learner profile. This will benefit all students learning development irrespective of whether they decide to continue their education in the IB programme.

We also have students who have graduated from MYP5 in Gjøvikregionen International School (GIS) or other IB MYP schools.

INMUN – Innlandet Model United Nations

MUN (Model United Nations) is an educational simulation where the students learn about diplomacy, international relations, the UN and how it functions. At MUN conferences, students represent a country or an organisation and must solve an issue with delegates from around the world.

At IBDP GVS we have a student led MUN club that meets once a week. They participate in national and international MUNs and in 2023 we organised our very first conference at GVS: INMUN.
